Endometriosis is a painful condition characterized by abnormal growth of endometrium outside the uterus (endometrium normally lines the inside of uterus). The abnormal growth of endometrium can occur in ovaries, bowel or the tissue lining the pelvis. In some rare cases, it may also go beyond pelvis.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
Diagnosis of Endometriosis
It is generally very difficult for the gynaecologist to make a definite diagnosis of the endometriosis on the basis of symptoms and physical examination of the patient. In most of the cases, diagnosis of endometriosis requires a direct visual inspection inside of the pelvis and abdomen. This can be achieved either by opening the belly with large-incision laparotomy or small-incision laparoscopy.
Definite Diagnosis of Endometriosis by Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is the most common and least invasive surgical procedure for the diagnosis of endometriosis. Through a small incision in the abdominal cavity, a long, thin viewing instrument called laparoscope is inserted into the inflated abdominal cavity to inspect the abdomen and pelvis for endometrial implants or to take tiny tissue samples of endometrium for laboratory examination.
Laparoscopic Treatment for Endometriosis
Laparoscopy is the most simple and least invasive technique to excise and remove mild or moderate endometriosis, relieve patient symptoms and produce pregnancies. It can be done in following ways
Laparoscopy with Diathermy: After evaluation of endometriosis during its laparoscopic diagnosis, it can be destroyed under the control of the laparoscope by burning or excising with the diathermy. Rashmi nursing home provides laparoscopic endometriosis treatment in bangalore.
Advanced Laparoscopy With Excision of Endometriosis:
It is generally the choice of treatment for endometriosis that may take one to three hours and involve a lot of dissection of the scarring and endometriosis along with repair of the pelvic structures.
